Leadership and Sportsmanship Celebrated

6 December 2017 | General Interest

Leadership and Sportsmanship celebrated at St Patrick’s Catholic School Asquith

St Patrick’s Catholic School was delighted recently to welcome back Local State Member for Hornsby, and Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, Mr Matt Kean to participate in a special school assembly recognising some outstanding contributions to the school community.  Mr Kean presented the 2017 leadership award to the child in Year 6 who had shown outstanding leadership and great contribution to the school community. This year’s award was presented to Thomas Cosgrove.

Mr Kean encouraged all the students in his address.   He affirmed how fortunate they were to have such great teachers, and tremendous support from the parent body at St Patrick’s. He left the children with an inspiring message about always trying their best and never giving up. By doing this he said, there is nothing you cannot achieve.

At same assembly the Vanessa Anderson Memorial Trophy was presented by Mr Warren Anderson.  Vanessa, a former student of St Patrick’s, was a talented golfer. Tragically, she was killed in an accident at Asquith Golf Course some years ago. The recipient of her Memorial Trophy is a Year 6 student who has represented the school in sport at a high level. This year’s recipient was Lily Peregrina.  St Patrick’s is most grateful to Mr Anderson for his time and interest.
